Under construction since February 2010, the Advanced Water Purification Facility (AWPF) is almost 60% complete. It is anticipated that the facility will be operational later this year. Dates are subject to change.
Water produced from the AWPF will undergo one of the worlds’ most advanced state-of-the-art purification processes. Treated wastewater from the Oxnard Wastewater Treatment Plant will be further purified using a three-step process of microfiltration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet light and hydrogen peroxide treatment techniques.
The AWPF is part of the Groundwater Recovery Enhancement and Treatment (GREAT) Program, a comprehensive water supply project that is designed to improve water supply reliability, sustainability, and water quality for our future, and reduce the reliance on additional imported water.
Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as we move forward with these improvements that address current and future needs of our city.
