Rossini's take on Cinderella remains utterly magical
Mar 07, 2013
The Oxnard Public Library is proud to host a Community Educator from LA Opera who will talk about Gioachino Rossini’s opera “Cinderella.” This presentation is free to the public and will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 3 PM at the Main Downtown Library, 251 South A Street, Meeting Room B.
The classic tale of “Cinderella” is a romantic comedy about a kind-hearted girl who dreams of escaping the tyranny of her vain stepsisters. When the prince announces that he will choose his bride at a glamorous ball, she seizes the opportunity to take control of her own destiny. It is a variation of the traditional story, as Rossini decided not to use magic as part of the plot.
